Papers include personal and professional correspondence, writings, photographs, conference materials, printed publications, topical files, and printed items consisting of newspaper clippings, programs, newsletters, and press releases that document the life of Pinkie Gordon Lane (1923-). All items illustrate Lane's connection to her literary colleagues and commitment to keeping current with the African American literary community. Her professional writings consist of manuscripts with handwritten notes for single item poems, her published volumes, and articles she wrote. Pinkie Gordon Lane was born 13 January 1923 in Philadelphia, Penn. In 1945 she entered Spelman College in Atlanta, Ga. where she earned a bachelor's degree in English and art.
